The Bonarda is a red grape variety of which there are different types, for example, the Bonarda Permontese or the Bonarde de Lobardie with which the Argentine Bonarda has no family relationship. In 1970, the French Ampelographer Paul Tavel discovered during a visit to Mendoza that the Argentine Bonarda corresponded to the “Corbeau” also called “Douce Noir” or “Carbonneau” – a very common grape variety in Savoie (F). Later, Bonarda was exported from Argentina to California, where it is called “Charbono”. In terms of volume, Bonarda is the most produced wine in Argentina in 2006, although Malbec was the most produced in terms of hectares. It is mainly produced as a table wine. However, quality wines are increasingly being produced, which requires that the Bonarda grape be allowed to ripen to full maturity. The climate of Mendoza, with an average of 300 days of sunshine per year, can fully meet this requirement. Let the Bonarda from Pecne Te convince you!
