Pecne Te obtains the Global GAP certification - Good Agricultural Practices

Description of Global GAP (Good Agricultural Practices)

Global GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) is a set of internationally recognized standards for agricultural production, aimed at ensuring the safety, sustainability, and quality of agricultural products. It provides a framework for farmers to implement best practices while considering the environmental, social, and economic aspects of agriculture.

Key Features:

  • Food Safety and Traceability:
Focuses on minimizing risks associated with food production.
Implements traceability systems to track products from field to consumer.

  • Sustainability:
Encourages responsible use of resources, including water, soil, and energy.
Promotes biodiversity and reduces environmental impact.

  • Worker Welfare:
Ensures fair treatment, safety, and good working conditions for agricultural workers.

  • Animal Welfare (if applicable):
Sets standards for the humane treatment of animals in farming and aquaculture systems.

  • Integrated Farm Assurance:
Covers the entire agricultural process, from input selection (e.g., seeds, fertilizers) to post-harvest management.

Benefits of Global GAP:

  • For Farmers: Access to global markets, enhanced credibility, and reduced production risks.

  • For Retailers: Assurance of high-quality and safe products for consumers.

  • For Consumers: Confidence in the safety, sustainability, and ethical production of food.

Global GAP certification is voluntary but widely adopted by producers and suppliers seeking to demonstrate their commitment to global standards of agricultural excellence. It applies to various products, including fruits, vegetables, livestock, aquaculture, flowers, and ornamental plants.
